YW LEADers Meet with Elected Officials

Our YW LEADers received a visit from NYC Councilmember Lincoln Restler and Speaker Adrienne Adams at YWCA Brooklyn earlier this week where they were invited to share their experience with the leadership program and advocate for its continued support.

YW LEADers Zenzele Franklin and Tasfiya Ahsan gave their remarks about our leadership program for young women pursuing their academic dreams, saying: “This program didn’t just open doors—it gave me the confidence to walk through them.” Speaker Adams took questions related to college and career readiness and offered advice on quality leadership.

We're committed to securing equitable opportunities for the young women in our program, and it is with support from our elected officials that we are able to continue serving the next generation of leaders. We're grateful that NYC council members took the time to meet with us, and so very proud of our young women for sharing their experiences and advocating for themselves and the future young women who will embark on the lifelong journey as a YW LEADer.
