Annual NYC Teen Dating Violence Awareness Walk

Each year YWCA Brooklyn participates in the Healing Center‘s Annual NYC Teen Dating Violence Awareness Walk-a-Thon to shine a light on an important issue affecting the lives of our young people.

The YWLEADers, students participating in College Access Program, create signs and take to the streets alongside other supporters and community members.

The walk begins in Brooklyn and participants cross the Brooklyn Bridge together holding their signs advocating for healthy relationships. The participants eventually make their way to City Hall where community leaders address the issue for the press, supported by organizations and members of the community that have gathered.

Our YWLEADers set up a table at the end of the walk where they engaged with members of the community and shared resources on teen dating violence awareness and other YW Brooklyn programming.
